Wet’suwet’en nation plans fight to protect ‘sacred’ river from natural gas pipeline project

River is source of clean drinking water

Friction is mounting as plans continue to proceed for drilling under the Wedzin Kwa (Morice River) in British Columbia to lay a pipeline for the movement of natural gas. The Wet’suwet’en nation claims the river is a source of clean drinking water, a key spawning ground for salmon and is sacred to the First Nation people. The Wet’suwet’en nation has served notice it will resist efforts from Coastal GasLink, the RCMP and all other groups that plan to proceed with the project.
